Igatpuri – The Land of Paradise

Whenever I like to visit any place near Mumbai, then I always like to go to places, which give the best feeling of pleasure and enjoyment. There are many places in and around the city which give you complete getaway pleasure and make your day a total leisurely activity. Amongst such places is Igatpuri which is also my husbands’ favorite spot. He loves to go driving there with the family and enjoy the beautiful and serene surroundings that the place provides. With the best kind of terrain and the ideal landscape, this forest with the most tranquil atmosphere is the place to be if you want a quick rejuvenation of a tired soul.

Igatpuri

The gorgeous surroundings of the humble Igatpuri area get more enchanting with the charming natural surroundings and the beautiful greenery around. The mornings here would inspire you to just go exploring around the area and the magical influence of the place would give you the freshness you always were searching for.

So you can find me headed to this interesting mystical locale in the district of Nashik at a height of around 1,900 feet. A soothing experience and a complete paradise for all picnickers. So as we made our way toward Igatpuri this weekend, I looked forward to yet another three days of absolute fun, exciting adventure, and magical experiences. The beautiful cascades and the woody forests beckoned me to come for more.

My children were very happy we had finally made ourselves available for an outing like this and Igatpuri was certainly the ideal way we could rewind after days of toil and commitments. This place is very famous for its temples and other small monuments of interest. I love the Vada Pav that we get here and the main reason my sister comes here is to go to the center for Vipassana and meditation. This is a place where she says that people come and take a break out of the schedule and try to communicate with their inner conscience. This is the time they can understand what life has to give them and what they want out of life.

With the Sahyadris surrounding the entire area, this is the ideal place for the monsoon clouds to add to the beauty of travel. The place is also a favorite locale for all those who love to climb rocks. Swapnil my friend often comes here to trek and he simply goes on and on about how exciting and adventurous the activities are. I know that a hill station provides us with the ultimate luxury but Igatpuri is something different. As I saw the waterfalls meandering here and the beauty of the climate seeping into our conscience, I was struck by the sheer simplicity of the place.

The hilly region and the natural beauty, the splendor of the surroundings and the fragrance of the woody groves, the enchanting scenery, and the lovely experience are all the reasons why my husband and I come here often to take a breather.

As we entered the place and saw the buses and the auto rickshaws around, we were excited and looked forward to a good stay there.

Buses ply throughout the day in the city and so Igatpuri is well connected by the bus system. The road here is comfortable too and the bus service is also very efficient. These are the cheapest modes of transport available.

The other private transport that you could have is the auto-rickshaw. They are a popular mode of transport and they are not run on meter. So if you are going by an auto rickshaw make sure you negotiate the fare and ensure that you don’t get overcharged.

This lovely hill station in the district of Nashik in the state of Maharashtra is the place to be if you want a lovely relaxation spot. Situated in the Western Ghats of India, the Igatpuri station is on the Central Railway in the area between Mumbai and Nashik Road. Very famous for the Buddhist Pagoda this place is frequented as an ideal getaway spot.

Igatpuri station is a major railway head and has trains that stop here for more than 15 minutes. This is the place where the engine changes to an electric current engine from a locomotive engine. So this small town has most of the Central Railway activities.

The place also has good convent schools and the Dhammagiri Vipassana Centre is anyway a world-famous spot there. One thing special about this place is that the local trains go only up to an area called Kasara. The train doesn’t go up the Thal Ghat from this region of Kasara. So in case you are not driving down, and going by train then you would have to take the suburban train to Kasara or a long-distance train and then take a bus to go uphill. This in itself is an adventurous experience.

So whenever you are in the locales near Mumbai and are looking out for a good place to stay and spend your time, just head for Igatpuri. Believe me, it is worth it.
